The Problem
Casa Cinto sits nestled in Bahia Cinto in Colombia’s world famous Tayrona National Park, a location of staggering natural beauty. Yet the property faced a persistent problem: weekdays sat empty while weekends drew party crowds looking for little more than a place to drink.
The owners wanted something different. They envisioned attracting international visitors who would appreciate the unique ecosystem, guests who sought genuine connection rather than nightlife.
The target was specific: church groups seeking spiritual retreat, sports teams wanting to bond in nature, startups craving offsite clarity, and extended families hungry for uninterrupted time together. These groups would book for ten or more people, staying longer, spending more, and leaving lighter on the land than weekend partiers.
But reaching them required a fundamental repositioning of what Casa Cinto offered. The property needed to shift from a passive rental to an active experience curator. This meant developing new operational capabilities, training staff in hospitality rather than just maintenance, and building partnerships with local guides, chefs, and wellness practitioners.
The Solution
The answer emerged as a complete digital detox retreat experience. Casa Cinto transformed from a rental property into a curated sanctuary where every detail was handled. Guests arrive to find locally sourced meals prepared, activities orchestrated, and logistics invisible. The only requirement is surrender: put the phone away, step away from screens, and sink into the present moment.
We developed three distinct retreat packages: the 3-day “Reset” for busy professionals, the 5-day “Deep Dive” for teams and families, and the 7-day “Transformation” for spiritual groups and intensive team building that included visiting other popular local sites. Each package includes all meals, twice-daily guided activities, evening programming, and optional one-on-one wellness sessions.
The activity programming spans four categories: physical (hiking, yoga, swimming), creative (journaling, photography, cooking classes), connective (group discussions, team challenges, family activities), and restorative (meditation, massage, hiking, nature immersion). Each retreat follows a rhythm designed to gradually deepen the disconnection from digital life and strengthen connection to self, others, and place.
The experience centers on reconnection. Without digital distraction, guests talk deeply, move their bodies through the landscape, and witness the biodiversity of Tayrona National Park with full attention. The park becomes more than a backdrop. It becomes the main character of their stay.
To reach the right audience, we implemented a targeted digital marketing strategy. We launched Google Ads campaigns specifically targeting high-ticket ecotourism clients searching for wellness retreats, group travel experiences, nature immersion and digital detox programs in Colombia. These ads reach people at the moment they are actively researching and ready to book premium experiences.
We also produced YouTube Ads featuring stunning drone footage we recorded in Bahia Cinto, showcasing the property’s unique location where jungle meets coastline. These cinematic videos capture the tranquility and natural beauty that guests experience, allowing potential visitors to visualize their own retreat before they book.
To convert this interest into bookings, we built an easy online booking system that allows groups to check availability, select their retreat package, customize their experience with add-ons, and complete their reservation in minutes. The system handles group coordination, payment processing, and pre-arrival communication automatically, reducing administrative burden while improving the guest experience from the first touchpoint.
The pricing strategy reflects the value transformation. Weekend party rentals averaged a modest nightly rate for the entire property. Digital detox retreats are priced per person with a minimum group size and minimum stay. This represents a substantial increase in revenue per booking. The average retreat booking now generates significantly more revenue compared to the average weekend rental.
The Result
The transformation is ongoing. Weekday bookings have increased substantially with intentional groups seeking what Casa Cinto now promises. Bookings during the rainy season, traditionally the slowest period for tourism in the region, have also grown as retreat guests are less deterred by weather and more focused on the indoor and covered programming aspects of the experience.
The property has found its identity not as a place to stay, but as a place to return to oneself. Each group that completes a digital detox retreat becomes an ambassador, carrying stories of disconnection and renewal back to their communities.
Weekday occupancy has risen significantly within the first months of operation. Weekend occupancy remains strong, but the clientele has shifted entirely. The average length of stay has increased notably. Guest spending on ancillary services has grown as retreats include optional add-ons like private yoga sessions, guided birdwatching tours, and photography workshops.
Revenue has transformed. Annual revenue under the digital detox model shows substantial growth compared to the previous weekend rental approach. Profit margins have improved as well, due to the efficiency of group bookings and the reduced operational complexity of managing fewer, longer stays rather than constant turnover of short weekend guests.
Customer acquisition cost has decreased over time. Initial marketing spend to establish the brand was substantial, but as word of mouth has spread and organic content has gained traction, the cost to acquire each new booking has dropped. A significant portion of groups book a second retreat within eighteen months, and many refer another group that books within the same timeframe.
Guest satisfaction metrics are strong. Post-retreat surveys show that the vast majority of guests report significant improvement in their sense of wellbeing, better sleep quality persisting for more than two weeks after return, and feeling more connected to their fellow retreat participants. These outcomes validate the core premise: digital detox works, and guests recognize its value.
The environmental impact has been positive. The shift to longer stays has reduced the carbon footprint per guest night, as less frequent cleaning, laundry, and turnover activities are required. The local sourcing program has injected meaningful revenue into the regional agricultural economy. Waste production has decreased per guest night through the elimination of single-use items and the implementation of composting and recycling programs integrated into retreat programming.
The vision is taking root. Casa Ciento is becoming known as the place where the modern world falls away and what matters comes back into focus. In the shadow of Tayrona National Park, surrounded by jungle and sea, guests are finding what they did not know they had lost. And they are booking return trips before they even leave.
The transformation of Casa Ciento demonstrates a broader truth in hospitality: the most successful properties do not compete on amenities or location alone. They offer transformation. They promise that guests will leave different than they arrived. And they deliver on that promise with every detail of the experience. Casa Ciento has made that shift. The results speak for themselves.
